Vintage Soviet USSR souvenir in the form of an ink pen on a stand with rocket fins in the memory of a rocket the Lunik 2 Luna 2. in September, 1959 at 00:02:24 Moscow time, the second Soviet cosmic rocket reached the surface of the moon. It is the first time in history that a cosmic flight has been made from the earth to another celestial body.
The stand and rocket pen are made in Leningrad from black probably plexiglass or similar with a small tag on the stand September 1959 in Russian, the pen chromed plastic looks all there with no missing parts and is able to swivel in many directions giving you the choice of preferred angle of display.
Underneath is a stamp that reads LSNKh RSFSR, Leningrad, Soyuz Plant, 1959,
Carbolite, metal, plastic.
The Soyuz Plant opened in 1924 and at that time was the first enterprise in the USSR to produce school writing supplies.
Super cool piece of memorabilia for an office desk or sideboard decoration, or aviation space collector.
This item is not new and bears some minor wear and tear nothing that would ruin the overall look of this treasure the felt padding underneath is peeling but could easily be glued back on.
